Sheep Dogs® began in 1982, when Kim and Debi Cline opened The Shoe Place at the Orange County Marketplace in Costa Mesa, California. Over the next two decades, their company grew to a year-round business featuring sandals and sheepskin footwear. In 1990, the Clines opened their first seasonal cart at Fashion Island in Newport Beach, California. After a successful run selling sheepskin slippers and Ugg® boots, they were asked to stay full time. For five years they ran an outdoor kiosk, called Southern Exposure, selling sheepskin in the winter and sandals the rest of the year. In 1996, they expanded, renting in-line seasonal stores during the winter months. After opening seasonal stores along the Southern California coast, the burgeoning business soon adopted the name Sheep Dogs®. In 1998, the company introduced their own label, Sheep Dogs®, and began having sheepskin manufacturers around the world make their favorite products for their customers. In 2011, Kim began Hoova, a sandal line named as an homage to his Finnish born Grandma. "Hoova" (not spelled as the Finns do) means good. The line is designed and made by Kim in his Orange Co. warehouse. Visit us every weekend at the Orange County Marketplace in Costa Mesa, Ca, space B 170 to see our selection of sandals and Sheep Dogs® sheepskin footwear.
